Stop Washington's Assault Weapon Ban

This week, William Kirk from Washington Gun Law came out to our SMF office to do an interview with Pete. For those of you who haven’t heard of Bill Kirk, he is the President of Washington Gun Law, an organization dedicated to educating responsible Washington state gun owners about the laws, as well as defending your right to defend yourself. This is a great organization that we highly recommend following.

A question was posed on Mr. Kirk’s social media recently that we felt was important to address.

Listen, we get it! The frustration level is high as unconstitutional laws are being pushed through in our great state. While Washington Gun Law is involved in advocating for gun rights, they do not litigate the constitutionality of such laws. That is where Silent Majority Foundation comes in. So… what are we doing about it? Check out the video link below for an update on our 2A cases. Here is a quick rundown:

Brumback V. Ferguson - This suit challenges SB5078 regarding “large” (standard) capacity magazines. Judge Mary Dimke stated that she would rule on December 23, 2022, but has not given a decision. We discuss our thoughts on this in the video.

John Doe, et al V. Ferguson - This suit challenges HB1705 regarding untraceable firearms (ghost guns). This is being brought in Steven’s County, Washington. You can see updates on this specific case on our website, as well as our Substack.

Ballot Measure 114 in Oregon - SMF amicus briefed in on this measure regarding large capacity guns. The TRO (Temporary Restraining Order) from the State Court in Harney County has been upheld, but the federal case continues through discovery (lots of “expert” depositions have been/are being taken) in this case and we will update you as we are able.

Upcoming:

HB1240 challenge - This bill is moving through legislation, and we are expecting it to pass. As soon as Jay Inslee signs, our goal is to file an Emergency TRO. We have identified several potential plaintiffs for this case, although we need to confirm with each.

SMF V. Garland - This case will be filed in federal court as a challenge to ATF’s Rule 2021R - 5F rules on frames and receivers.

As you can see, we are DOING many things to challenge these unconstitutional laws and to protect YOUR rights. It is an honor to fight for and with each and every one of you.
