Happy birthday, America! This Independence Day, no matter where we are and what we are doing, may be always remember those who have gone before us to fight for land of the free and the home of the brave. America, the beautiful, may she forever shine.
Silent Majority Foundation currently has FOUR Second Amendment cases, each with the potential to halt the infringement on your rights.  Washington v Gators Guns and Washington v. Guardian Arms each have hearings coming up this month.
Washington v. Gators Custom Guns - Injunction Granted on illegal magazine ban; State overturned ruling immediately; En banc agreed that Washington Supreme Court to retain case. Supreme Court to Review Documents: July 10th, 2024
Washington v. Guardian Arms - In discovery; expert witnesses retained; case was moved to Thurston County. Next Hearing: July 12th, 2024
Brumback v. Ferguson - On hold pending outcome of Duncan v. Bonta.Â
SMF v. Inslee - Challenge to "Ghost Guns ban" (HB1705); currently in discovery.
As we celebrate Independence Day today, we are reminded of what Thomas Jefferson said in his Declaration of the Causes and Necessities of Taking Up Arms, adopted by the Continental Congress on July 6th, 1775. Jefferson's proclamation is a formal justification of colonial military resistance and a powerful declaration of the American case against Great Britain. "With hearts fortified with these animating reflections, we most solemnly, before God and the world, declare that... the arms we have been compelled by our enemies to assume, we will, in defiance of every hazard, with unabating perseverance, employ for the preservation of our liberties; being with our one mind resolved to die Free-men rather than live Slaves." (original spelling and grammar used)
Our battle cry today is the same as Jefferson's as we face the same type of tyrannical government we once broke free from.Â
With some recent rulings like Garland v. Cargill and the Supreme Courts response in Bevis v. City of Naperville the wins and losses are a roller coaster but we hold hope that we will get our day in court with SCOTUS. Our team is excited for what the future holds for all our cases. With each ruling, it becomes clearer that the options legislatures have to infringe on our Second Amendment rights are shrinking.Â
