In the course of human events there have always been those who deny or reject human freedom, but Americans will never falter in defending the fundamental truths of human liberty proclaimed on July 4, 1776. We will - we must - always hold these truths. - The 1776 Report
America is a unique nation because of our system of government. Our Constitutional Republic is the “Great Experiment” because for thousands of years, no other nation had been founded on the idea that the people, not a ruler, oversee the government. The idea that “The People,” not the government, possess the power and the freedom to self-govern was revolutionary at the time, and it remains so today. The preservation of government of, for, and by The People, is Silent Majority Foundation’s core mission. Our government by The People remains unique in its protections of the rights of “life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.” The story of American exceptionalism, triumph and the power of a united people standing firm in their God-given rights is the GREATEST story in history, so here’s a look at what led to the founding of our country and the adoption of our Constitution – the 27 grievances.
The 27 Grievances – The Reason Behind this Great Experiment of Government By The People
When the Founders wrote the Constitution of the United States, they did so to break the harsh rule of King George III of England, who had no respect for the colonist’s rights as English citizens. The King’s actions crushed the voice and power of the colonists, so they leveled 27 grievances against the King. Here’s a list of a few of the grievances:
"He has forbidden his Governors to pass Laws of immediate and pressing importance unless suspended in their operation till his Assent should be obtained; and when suspended, he has utterly neglected to attend to them."
"He has called together legislative bodies at places unusual, uncomfortable, and distant from the depository of their Public Records, for the sole purpose of fatiguing them into compliance with his measures."
"He has obstructed the Administration of Justice by refusing his Assent to Laws for establishing Judiciary Powers."
"He has made Judges dependent on his Will alone for the tenure of their offices, and the amount and payment of their salaries."
"He has kept among us, in times of peace, Standing Armies without the Consent of our legislatures."
"For cutting off our Trade with all parts of the world."
"For imposing taxes on us without our consent."
"For depriving us in many cases, of the benefit of trial by jury."
"For taking away our Charters, abolishing our most valuable Laws and altering fundamentally the Forms of our Governments."
Do the 27 Grievances Apply Today? If So, What Do they Cost to Maintain?
While these are just a few of the 27 grievances, they do sound or feel familiar. Have our laws been altered? Are our judges dependent on the government? Do we have elected officials seeking to fundamentally alter our form of government? This begs the question: are we living in parallel times; if so, what is to be done, and how can we achieve something as great as our Founding Fathers did? The first is to recognize their sacrifices; after all, “Eternal vigilance is the price of liberty.” How vigilant has each one of us remained? What are we doing to uphold and support the US and Washington Constitutions?
While many are Americans by birth, we must remember that to maintain the American status, American freedoms, is a choice. It is a decision that we each make to espouse and protect certain principles and freedoms. It is also a cherished duty and responsibility to stand for these principles; to speak for these principles; to become the LOUD majority. So, what are YOU doing with your voice? How do YOU exercise YOUR rights?
Silent Majority Foundation has the distinct honor to represent several courageous Americans who stand for each of us. These individuals are willing to risk careers and comfort to speak out so we can all speak freely. These individuals include: Dr. Michael Turner, Dr. Renata Moon, Dr. Richard Wilkinson, Dr. Ryan Cole, Alison Westover (Morrow), and Sean Feucht. SMF is proud to fight alongside each of these individuals, in defense of these individuals, in an effort to preserve this great nation, which was founded on the principles of liberty and justice for all. We hope that as you’ve read this, you’re moved to action. That action may be more community involvement; more speaking up; or more financial support for organizations like Silent Majority Foundation. As you know, YOUR donations directly support SMF’s battle to protect YOUR rights. If you’re moved to support Silent Majority Foundation, we ask that you donate TODAY to preserve OUR rights.
