Silent Majority Foundation is part of a team of freedom fighting litigators standing for our men and women of the United States Coast Guard. We love the fact that we’re standing with our servicemen and women as our uniformed men and women are our heroes. Of course, it doesn’t hurt that Madeline, our paralegal, and her husband, are both Coast Guard vets!
Even though the mandate for our military was removed, the fact remains that our clients suffered significant discrimination and damage for standing for their religious rights. Below is an interview that explains just a small piece of what our clients have faced.
Last week we submitted a response to the DOJ (Department of Justice) regarding their argument that this point is now “moot.” That filing is attached below. The case for our Coast Guard service members is still going strong but the DOJ is fighting hard to convince the Judge that the case is “moot”. In legal terms, this means that they are arguing that there is no actual controversy or issue that needs to be decided by a Judge. Their basis is that because the NDAA revoked the mandate, no actual harm was done to any plaintiffs or service members. We know that this is entirely false. Horrific things have occurred to these service members and to their families because of the actions by the Coast Guard. Our counter argument was filed on March 7th and included clear examples of harm that have been done to our plaintiffs. Unfortunately, the harm listed in our argument is only a fraction of what has been done to the members (and now former members) of the Coast Guard. If we did not have page limits in litigation, we would likely have hundreds of pages just of harm that has happened to these men and women who have dedicated their lives to this service. We need your support to continue fighting for these service members and showing the Judge and the world that these men and women are not just service members meant to blindly follow orders, they are God fearing, hard working, loving, strong, and intelligent HUMAN BEINGS who have and always will MATTER.
We are thankful for the opportunity to provide legal representation for these Coast Guardsmen and their families. It is an honor to be the conduit for the voices of these fine servicemen and women. As a non-profit, our services are covered by the generous donations of our supporters, allowing our clients to get the help they need without the heavy financial burden.
Support our fight for these Coastie’s here.
